The first screen that appears in Ultra Screen Saver Maker (USSM)
is designed for entering basic information about the screen saver
you would like to create. Here, you can enter the screen saver's
name, a short description of it, as well as the author's name.
You can add a variety of photo formats (i.e. JPEG, GIF, PNG, BMP,
TIFF and TGA) into your screen saver. USSM allows you to sort and
preview the photos you have added by using a preview window. You
can display the photos in their original size, a full screen or
any other size of your choice. Moreover, you can turn on
transitional effects between displayed photos.
You can also add audio files into your screen saver and play
them. USSM supports WAV, MP3 and MIDI music formats.
Movies can be added into your screen saver as well. USSM
recognizes AVI and MPEG videos and can display them in
their original or the full screen size. In addition, the program
allows for a preview of the chosen video files. If you have added
an audio file into your screen saver as well, you have a choice
of playing it simultaneously with a chosen video file, as its
background.
USSM also allows you to create screen saver by simply entering
the text of your choice. The text can be displayed in more than
one row, where each row represents a separate object. You can
choose that the appearance of the text on the screen be either in
sequence or randomly. You can also use various colors to write
the text and have an option to add additional effects to it.
You can add Flash animations in your screen saver. USSM
recognizes Macromedia SWF Flash files, and can play them in their original size,
or in the full screen. You can preview animation, and set its
background.
One of the unique characteristics of USSM is that it enables you
to test the screen saver before it is generated in full. You can
check, step-by-step, how your screen saver will look like. The
test version will not be installed in the computer.
Once you are completely satisfied with the look and
characteristics of your screen saver, you can generate it
eventually! USSM gives you a possibility to create a project
file before you generate your screen saver, which can be used
later on. You can save the generated screen saver either in a
SCR format or in a self-installing EXE format.
Self-installing screen saver (EXE format) is a great solution for screen savers distribution.
It also has /I switch providing quiet installation as Windows default screen saver.
